Anselm Ernest Gouveia

The Reverend Anselm Ernest Gouveia, SS.CC., was a priest of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, born in Honolulu, Hawaii, who served as pastor of Saint Ann Roman Catholic Church in Kane‘ohe, Saint Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Kalihi, Saint Augustine by the Sea Catholic Church in Waikiki, and Most Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Pauoa. Father Gouveia made his religious profession with the Picpus Fathers in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Father Gouveia was responsible for building in 1967 the present Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Kalihi. He died in Honolulu on May 22, 1981.
