The company was founded in 1970 by Dr. John Swanson, and has its headquarters in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, United States. ANSYS, Inc. employs approximately 600 people and distributes its products through a network of about twenty-five field offices and several channel partners in over forty countries. On February 16, 2006 ANSYS announced that it would acquire Fluent, Inc. for 565 million U.S. dollars.
