[edit] About Me
Hey, and welcome to my user page. My name on Wikipedia is Anonymous Dissident, but outside of the encyclopedia, I am known as Joshua, or Josh. I am 12 years old, which may provoke questions about why I spend my time contributing to Wikipedia, or whether my contributions are worthy, accurate or useful, considering my age. The reason I contribute is because I find a certain satisfaction to creating and writing articles, and sharing my knowledge and interests on an international level, something I can achieve through Wikipedia. I also believe that a persons mental age can often be more important than their chronological age, and that limiting yourself based on your age or what is stereotypical for others of your age group can be, and is, a waste of talent. I live close to the Australian city of Sydney, on the Central Coast.
Facts of almost any kind relating to physics,WWII, astronomy, biology, extremely high numbers, anything relating to atoms and sub-atomic particles and software fascinate me greatly. I also like to think I know a fair bit about music and video games. I chose the name Anonymous Dissident because I will oppose a pre-decided fact that everyone else has taken as truth, and attempt to create a more accurate theory, thus the 'dissident'. I name myself anonymous because I do not pretend that I am a trained scientist, physist or such, just merely someone who has a growing knowledge of the subjects listed above.
[edit] Philosophies
'All crave omniscience, all wish to see what no others see, to have the wisdom no man ever had afore him. He wishes to know the unknown, and to escape from the mundane existence he now leads. He believes that all-knowledge is the key, the power, to obtain all that his dreams are made of. In all of these visions of something that he can never achieve in all the time that has ever been spun, perhaps he has overlooked the happiness that has most likely always been available to him, in the life he now leads, where the thick webs of mystery are left hanging in the void that he can most certainly never fill.'
Yes, I believe that to be true. Strive for happiness, not for a goal that you can never reach, or be. Be content with the limits that you yourself have erected. Instead of peering across to the far horizon for your future, perhaps you should scour the ground right in front of you. Another of my mottos is as follows:
'Life is a vast hall lined with many doors. Some are wide open, and others are tightly shut. All are an unfathomable mystery, for the future is not written.' Do not antiscipate the future, instead, live the eternal present, and then you will find what you have been looking for. If you spend too much time dwelling on what has not yet come to pass, you may miss the train when it comes. None can chart the tides of one's fate until they have met it, just like no-one can chart unknown waters until they have suffered them.
