Anonymous sex

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anonymous sex is sex between people who have very little or no history with each other, often engaging in sexual activity on the same day of their meeting and usually never seeing each other again afterwards. It can be highly organized, such as a pre-arranged party with the specific purpose of having sex with strangers. It can also be done spontaneously, such as two people making eye contact and deciding to engage in sexual activities without ever speaking to each other.

In its purest form, anonymous sex is done amongst people who have never met, don't speak to each other, and don't see each others' faces. However, casual sex such as a "one night stand", is sometimes also considered anonymous since the participants may have very little identifying information about each other. Similarly, a date set up- often via the internet- specifically for sexual contact may involve exchanging names and some vague personal information but may also be relatively anonymous.

People who engage in anonymous sex often do it to enjoy the thrill of surrendering their bodies or dominating someone to whom they have no intellectual nor social connection. Others may view such purely physical gratification as a form of sex addiction. Public sex such as takes place in adult bookstores, parks, and public restrooms is especially stigmatized as acting out by those who view anonymous sex negatively.
