Anoka High School is a part of the Anoka-Hennepin School District 11 and is one of five regular high schools in the district. Anoka High is one of the oldest high schools in the state and is 127 years old as of 2007 (the current school building was constructed in 1971). Anoka High has a student population of 2544 that is 1% American Indian, 3% Asian, 3% black, and 90% white.

Anoka competes in the Northwest Suburban Conference. In 2006 the Anoka Tornadoes football team won section 7AAAA by beating Champlin Park High School in the section final. The Tornadoes then lost to Lakeville South High School in the playoffs who in turn lost the class 5A state title to Eden Prairie High School. Anoka High School's main rival is Champlin Park High School. Another rival of Anoka is Blaine High School.
