Ano Symi

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ano Symi, also called Ano Simi and Epáno Sími (Greek: "Upper Symi"), is the main town of the island of Symi, east of the island of Crete in Greece. It is situated in one of the most picturesque areas of Symi, but nowadays is almost completely abandoned by its people.

There are two interesting churches in Ano Simi, dating from the Byzantine era: Aghios Georgios and Metamorfosis. There is also an archaeological museum and the Castle of the Knights of St. John.
