Anmer (horse)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anmer was a horse famous for causing the death of Emily Wilding Davison, an outspoken suffragette, in 1913. Anmer was third from last when Emily got underneath the barrier and threw herself in front of Anmer to try and put a suffragette flag on the horse. Emily died four days later. Anmer suffered bruised shins and his jockey, Herbert Jones, suffered a mild concussion, fractured rib and a slightly bruised face. Anmer made a full recovery and made a return to racing.
