Ankola is a Taluk (administrative subdivision) in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state, India. A small town by any standard surrounded by numerous temples. People speak Kannada and Konkani.

Ankola is famous for its native breed of mango called ishaad.

Among many beaches, it has a famous beach called Belikeri Beach on the shore of Arabian sea.most of the beaches are used by fishermen however there are some hidden gems like 'nadibag'. 'basaakalgudda' is another picnic spot popular among local crowd.

Ankola is also home to very famous temple of Lakshminarayana Mahamaya Temple,which is the chief deity of many Goud Sarawat Brahmins belonging to South Canara and Udupi Districts.

1.North South Direction - It is well connected to Mangalore and Goa - by bus and train. Konkan railways operates fairly regular services.Bangalore is connected by road. The National Highway 17( NH-17 ) passes through Ankola from Goa to Udupi.

2.East Direction - Connected to Hubli and then pune-bangalore highway.

famous for freedomfight during british times. known as bardoli of south. farming is main occupation. bandihabba is most famous local festival. halepaiks,kharvis,halakki goudas,nadavar are original habitats. had plague epidermic some 50 yrs back. according to who wild rats still carry dormant virus. now town has become a total shanty like with box shops all along road side(known as good angadis.
