Talk:Anime in the United States

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

[edit] Pop culture...?

Uh... if anime is listed as a subculture every other place on Wikipedia, why's it under American Pop culture? I'll grant that Astroboy and some of the older stuff is, but that's about it. Samurai Drifter 03:12, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I can't remember if Yu-Gi-Oh began broadcast in the U.S. before the turn of the century or not. Regardless, it was most popular after the turn of the century, which is why I added it there. RadicalBender 22:20, 9 Jan 2004 (UTC)

[edit] A history of anime?

I don't have time to do it now, but maybe someone could write up a history of anime inthe United States for this article, i.e. a discussion of how anime was first brought here as uncredited children's movies most people didn't realize were foreign right through today's boom. This would enhance the article over the general list of series which happen to have been shown on TV, which does not provide any context and and only shows a small portion of the anime phenomenon as it has touched the US.
