Anime Festival Wichita (AFW) is a three day anime convention held on August in Wichita, Kansas. Anime Festival Wichita is hosted by Peter Pixie Productions, a not-for-profit alternative entertainment company.[1]

[edit] History

Anime Festival Wichita began on August 6, 2005 as a one day festival at the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, Kansas.[2] The expected turn-out was 500 attendees, but due to an article in the Wichita Eagle AFW'05 saw over 1,200 people come through the doors.[3]

In 2006 AFW moved to the Best Western Wichita North Hotel & Suites. Held on August 18–20, 2006, the convention added several events, including panels and game shows. Pianist Piano Squall and voice actor Tiffany Grant also attended as guests of honor.[4]

Anime Festival Wichita 2007 has been planned for August 17–19, 2007. Announced guests include artist Stephanie Celeste, voice actor Vic Mignogna, and singer/songwriter Stephanie Yanez.[5]
