Animal Crackers (theatre)

Animal Crackers was a musical play with music and lyrics by Bert Kalmar and Harry Ruby. The book was written by George S. Kaufman and Morrie Ryskind.
Animal Crackers opened October 23, 1928 at the Original 44th Street Theatre, New York and ran for 191 performances.
The production starred the four Marx Brothers and Margaret Dumont and this was their second Broadway hit.
The musical was filmed in 1930 and the principle leads transferred from the stage production. See Animal Crackers (film).
