Anif is as small village southern of Salzburg with 4.300 inhabitants.

788 the first time mentioned as "the church near Anif". Anif as own village had been seperate on July 17, 1894 with its part Niederalm from the neighbour village Grödig. Late on there was a third part grown, Neu Anif.

- Herbert von Karajan, famous maestro, lived and has his tomb there
- Dr. Hans Katschthaler, * March 13, 1933 in Embach, a village in the county of Pinzgau, former governor of the Salzburg province
- Luise Martini, * November 10, 1931 in Vienna, actress
- Riccardo Muti, * 1941 in Naples, Italy, famous maestro

- Karl Habsburg-Lothringen, * January 11, 1961 in Starnberg, Bavaria, grandson of the last Austrian Emperor Karl I, (1916 - 1918), he lives in Swoboda Villa, today called Casa Austria

- Kaiserhof: first time mentioned in 15th century, today a hotel
- Friesacher: in the 16th century granted the right to serve beverages at the farmhouse Puechnergut, today a well known hotel
- "Zum Husaren": exististing since 1877, the building itself had been established in 1645
- Schlosswirt: building mentioned first time in 1380, since 1607 the licence to serve wine and beer
