Anibare Bay
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anibare Bay is the only bay of Nauru in the east of the island nation. The best aspects of Nauru are offered here for the tourist.
The beach of the same name is covered with white coral sand. It is located in the district of Anibare. The capes, which form the ends of the more than 2 km long beach, are located in Ijuw to the north and by the hotel in the district of Meneng to the south.
It is the best place on the island to surf or to swim. However, it is somewhat risky, because there is frequently heavy surf and an underwater current. The diversity of the underwater flora there is a rarity, because Nauru has not been heavily exploited by tourists.
The Anibare Bay is next to the Buada Lagoon the single biggest attraction of the entire island. This is also the case because the only hotel of the island, the Menen Hotel, is located in direct proximity. In 2000 a sea harbour named Anibare Harbour was established on the bay, which should promote fishing.
