[edit] Wikipedia:Site support
You created Wikipedia:Site support back on 2004 as a permanently protected cross-wiki redirect to wikimedia:Fundraising. However, cross-wiki redirects do not work anymore (probably because of it, that particular page doesn't seem to be used anymore; the sidebar links directly to the foundation wiki).
Some time ago, I created {{softredirect}} and changed all the cross-wiki redirects I could find to it; however, that's not an option here, since that template is not protected and that redirect should not be changeable (even if it's not used on this wiki anymore, it could have offsite links to it). I'm thinking of changing it to something similar to what is used on Wikipedia:Designated agent (another page with a similar requirement for protection); are you OK with it? --cesarb 16:55, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
- That's a good idea. I edited it a bit, but I'm sure it could still be improved. Perhaps the same should be done for Wikipedia:Fundraising or that could just redirect there. Angela. 21:34, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch
Hi Angela - did you create the article on the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch? If not, how do I find out who created an article? Johnalexwood 16:51, 25 March 2007 (UTC)
- No, I didn't. Click the "history" tab and then click "earliest" if not all revisions are shown to see who made the first version. In this case, the article was created by Karl Palmen. Angela. 17:15, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rename me
Hello Angela, please, can you rename my name Killaruna
into Bangin
? Thanks, --Killaruna | talk 2 me! 11:25, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- I can't since that username already exists. Also, this isn't Wikipedia:Changing username. Angela. 15:50, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Over-excessive range blocking?
As with any problem involving a huge number of sockpuppets, dynamic IPs, and sleeper accounts to circumvent protection, it's difficult to offer any concise explanation. =\ Someone on Tiscali has been harassing several users (mainly User:EricR, I think, but also anyone who offers support in dealing with the problem). The problem's been ongoing for weeks, perhaps over a month. I've tried protection and shorter blocks (an hour, say) when abuse got really bad, but at the time of the block, things had been nasty for several days and showed no signs of improving. Was hoping a longer block would have more impact, encouraging them to move on. I've also been (I think) as helpful as I can in answering requests by affected users, apologizing for their trouble and either helping them to log in or registering usernames on their behalf. But, given the amount of innocent bystanders affected by the block, I've lifted it and will seek other solutions. I will avoid making such long blocks without prior discussion, in the future. – Luna Santin (talk) 05:13, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fifth Melbourne meetup
The fifth meetup of Melbourne Wikipedians is being planned as a breakfast meeting in the city with Jimbo Wales (at a venue to be arranged) on Friday, 27 April 2007.
Jimbo has proposed breakfast as the one real window of opportunity during his tightly scheduled stay in Melbourne. Tbe precise time has to be sorted out with Jimbo, but the arrangements for the equivalent Adelaide meetup a few days before may give a good idea.
Feel free to edit the relevant page in any way that might be helpful. I feel like a bit of an interloper, not having attended previous meetups. If there's anything you can do to help, I'll be grateful. Please think about whether you'll be able to make it, assuming the arrangements are similar to those Adelaide is adopting (i.e. a block of time with people being fairly free to arrive when it suits them). Some indication on the page of your possible participation would be really helpful.
(Angela, I realise you won't be in town - I'm giving you the message that I'm distributing to possible participants, to keep you in the loop.) Metamagician3000 06:22, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- There's a very slim chance I might be back by then, but I appreciate the message anyway. Angela. 15:03, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism study
I hope you don't mind, but I added the vandalism study on your user page to our list of previous vandalism studies on the WikiProject Vandalism site. It was very interesting. Feel free to propose any ideas you might have for future vandalism studies on the projects talk page. Remember 13:45, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Systemic bias in Wikipedia
Pls check images there on Muhammad page and the images were not there last year on the same page, aren't we annoying/turning away Muslim Wikipedians and also aren't creating physological barrier for them to come on board. If this can annoy a Hindu Wikipedian like me then think of how it will play on minds of Muslim Wikipedian. Also check titles of some pages like Alexander the Great and quoting this another page is titled as Ashoka the Great. Isn't this a blatant systemic bias and this could hamper growth of Wikipedia in third world countries and I along with many other secular/neutral Wikipedian will be saddened. This issue is identified by some Wikipedians hence there is a project for the same, check Wikipedia:WikiProject_Countering_systemic_bias#The_origins_of_bias.
One way to counter systemic bias is by empowering active Wikipedians say by introducing point system and anybody above a certain threshold can have some say in say dispute resolution/locking/unlocking/admin selection/admin removal etc.
Your views pls. Vjdchauhan 18:35, 1 April 2007 (UTC). (Don't go by the 1'st April date, its a serious issue and am concerned)
- Any user can already have some say in dispute resolution, so I don't understand what a points system would solve. Similarly, all users are allowed to comment on admin nominations at WP:RFA. Countering systemic bias isn't above removing certain viewpoints. Angela. 03:19, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- Point system can also support taking away Adminship from biased Admins, Wikipedians with points above a threshold level can be shown how many watches are there on a page so that they can optimally manage their Wiki time. Edits from Wikipedians with low points can be specially scrutanized for vandalism again saving 'Very Active' Wikipedian's time.
- Finally if you think the pages I have pointed out are affected by systemic bias then how do you propose to handle that or in general how do you propose to handle systemic bias which is there despite NPOV policy. Vjdchauhan 14:29, 3 April 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Bot
I may want to run a bot please. I can't make software and the bot may need software. Can you help me please? Jet123 01:52, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should contact someone who already runs a bot and ask how you could get involved. Angela. 03:19, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recommended userpage changes in zh:
Hi, I recommended the link in your user-page in Chinese Wikipedia to be changed from [[Wikipedia索引]] to [[Special:Allpages/Wikipedia:|Wikipedia索引]], since the former one was proposed to be deleted for obsoleteness. Thanks and have a nice day. :-) -XIAYICI 19:59, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

I want to apologize to you over this message to your talk page nearly a month ago. After reading it again, I feel I was out of line with it. I am sorry. Acalamari 18:59, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
