- Angel's intro quote is a Japanese equivalent of The Rock's catchphrase, "Can you smell what The Rock is cooking?" ("Anheru-sama no miyougi wo?")
Well first of all, that quote is incorrect. I had to play for myself to hear it, but she actually says "myōgi" (which means 'exquisite skill' or 'wonderful performance' and not "miyougi" (which means nothing). She also says some stuff before that line, but I'm not going to bother figuring it out. In short, she's not saying anything about cooking or smelling.
- She also refers to herself in the third person, like The Rock.
Most Japanese people refer to themselves in the third person. That's just how the language works.
- Her taunt is a pose with her hands on her head, with her fingers pointing up, representing bull horns. This could be a reference to the "The Brahma Bull", a nickname of The Rock, and it's actually a part of traditional Mexican dance.
Obviously this is OR speculation.
The rest of all that stuff about The Rock also might need to be removed, but at least some of it seems to have a little truth to it.--SeizureDog 09:45, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- "Angel appears to be in many ways a tribute to the professional wrestler turned actor The Rock. When her HSDM is performed, she adopts a "counter" stance with her foot raised up. If she counters an opponent who is attacking from the air she performs the Rock Bottom. If an additional command is input during this time, she also follows it up with The People's Elbow, complete with trademark poses. If she counters a ground-based attack instead, she will begin "Layin' the Smack Down", punching the opponent thrice, then pausing for a second before firing off a fourth hit, that sends the opponent flying. All 3 are signature moves of The Rock."
I removed the rest of it because taking a second look at that showed me that it was all pure speculation that I just don't buy. Done of these moves are called so for the game and wrestler's borrow so many damn moves from either other that it can hardly be said that any move is specific to a person. Plus throw in that Angel is both a female, Mexician, and doesn't act macho at all, and you've got nothing. If someone wants to try and add this back they better damn well cite something.--SeizureDog 08:33, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Dude, the move she puts on IS a copy of The People's Elbow. I'm a wrestling fan, and I can see direct similarities between the two. This deserves a mention. She does parody The Rock's moves. Blacklist 07:15, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- The Rock isn't the only person to ever have use an elbow drop. Unlike the Soul Flower Union references, of which it is statistically improbable that it's a coincidence, this "homage" to The Rock is debatable and I would have to say that you'd need to be able to cite it to include it. She's a female, Mexican character from a Japanese game who looks nor acts anything like The Rock. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by SeizureDog (talk • contribs) 18:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC).
- You'd have to be blind to not see that the HDSM is a parody of the People's Elbow. And don't go crying sources as an easy way out. Blacklist 21:48, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is about what can be sourced, not what is "true". Yes, the move is similar, but so is every other move involving an elbow drop. It is certain that she uses an elbow drop, but as to if it's directly a homage to The Rock is for the reader to decide.--SeizureDog 04:53, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- So... every time a wrestler does an elbow drop, he/she points his/her fingers sideways and runs in opposite directions before finally doing a dramatic, slow elbow drop? Uh-uh. Watch more wrestling. And if it's for the reader to decide, then there should at least be a name recognition or a link to The Rock if he/she hasn't played KOF or watched wrestling before and wouldn't know the similarity. - I swear it's way harder than it should be to find video clips of elbow drops by real pro wrestlers. Youtube keeps giving me videos of stupid kids in their backyards. There is a case for her emulating The Rock in some aspects, but after all of the shit I pulled out of the article article earlier (such as her intro quote supposedly being like The Rock's, when it's nowhere close), I'm rather against mentioning it at all until we can get something to back it up.--SeizureDog 06:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Alright then. I'm a patient guy, so I can wait until there is some sort of citation that will hopefully pop up. Thanks for hanging in there with me through this. Blacklist 19:05, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for being reasonable about it.--SeizureDog 04:52, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] GA passed
Looks good (since everything passes, I won't use the fancy template). Perhaps a full reception and criticism section would be helpful to expand the out of universe information, but it looks solid overall. — Deckiller 18:07, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
- Uh, not quite sure how to do a reception and criticism section for a character, but thanks for passing.--SeizureDog 18:17, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Take a look at Characters of Final Fantasy VIII#Reception and criticism for some ideas; digging through professional reviews and finding positive/negative mentions of the character will help strengthen the out of universe perspective. — Deckiller 18:34, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
- Er, Characters of Final Fantasy doesn't have a Reception and criticism section. In any case, I think that making a section on if she's "good" or "bad" would be too much original research. I was lucky enough to source that she's not very popular.--SeizureDog 18:54, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
