Angelo Plessas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Angelo Plessas is an artist of Greek-Italian descent. He lives and works in different places such as New York, Athens, Milan and Los Angeles.
In his work Plessas uses the internet as his canvas. He combines animations with domain names to create websites. Plessas uses websites not as places of information but as places where we can imagine meaning and experience objects, the same way we can admire a sunset or a sculpture in a public square. The main themes running through his work are portraiture, femminity and vintage aesthetic and sometimes a subtle personal involvement.
He has shown his work in museums and foundations such as Deste Foundation, the 3rd Biennial of Valencia and the National Museum of Contemporary Art of Athens. His work has been published in publications such as Purple Fashion, Italian Vogue and Frieze magazine. Since 2001 he is a basic member of the art movement NEEN.
