Angel of Mercy (called Twelve-Eight Angel on the album) was the final single by The Dream Academy. The song was co-written by David Gilmour of Pink Floyd (who also co-produced it, and sang backing vocals) and Dream Academy lead singer Nick Laird-Clowes. It is about redemption and finding lost love, and saw the band return to a more familiar musical style after their previous single, Love which had a strong Indian theme. Unusually, it was only released in the UK and not in the USA as well.

Like all of their singles after The Love Parade, Angel of Mercy failed to enter the UK music charts. A Music video was made to accompany the single, but it was never released.
