Angel Eater

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Angel Eater (Japanese:天使喰い, Tenshi-kui or Tenshi-gui) is a demon in the manga series Oh My Goddess!.

[edit] Description

The Angel Eater vaguely resembled a scorpion, except there is a reptilian head where the tail would normally be and a gaping, circular maw lined with sharp teeth where the head would normally be. Its body is long and thick, covered with chitin plates and supported by six spider-like limbs with two claws each. It had an eight-clawed “clamp” just beneath its head and two long, whip-like tentacles, each on one side of its head, which it can use as weapons.

[edit] Abilities

The Angel Eater specifically consumes angels as food. While the Eater could not target more than one angel at the same time, it can forcibly lure an angel from its host by utilizing a magical call that the angel will respond to immediately. This act is usually enough to render the host unconscious.

The Eater can also influence an angel’s host by capturing an angel in its clamp. Through the captured angel’s connection to its host, the Eater can influence the host’s actions, though the host may be able to resist said influence, depending on his or her willpower. The influence can be severed if the captured angel is removed from its host, willingly or otherwise, or when the Eater releases the angel. This was demonstrated when Lind severed her connection to her angel Spear Mint to free herself from the Angel Eater's influence of her mind.
