[edit] 2003 accident

A 25-year-old Chinese lady Ms Neo Shiea Chee, a teacher at Holy Innocents' High, was run over by a train at Ang Mo Kio MRT station shortly before 7pm on 11 Jan 2003 after she got too near the platform after being too engrossed in the book that she was reading. [1]

[edit] Two Trains Stall Between Bishan and Ang Mo Kio Stations

On 8 September 2006, Benson Tan saw two trains on the same track between Ang Mo Kio and Bishan stations at about 7pm. He said The two drivers were facing each other up there and signalling to each other.

STOMP contacted SMRT and found out that the second train was called in to move the train that broke down onto a service track as part of a recovery procedure known as 'coupling'. As a result, train services from Bishan to Ang Mo Kio were disrupted at 6.50pm to 7.10pm and all northbound trains go to the station using the middle track.

[edit] Train services

During peak periods, trains departing from Bishan Depot arrive at platform A. During the morning peak period, northbound trains will terminate at Yishun or travel towards Jurong East, and some will cross over to travel eastbound when arrive at Jurong East to travel towards Pasir Ris; for the evening peak period, northbound trains will either terminate at Yishun or travel towards Jurong East. On certain special days, such as New Year's Eve, Christmas Eve, Chinese New Year's Eve, Chingay parade day, Chingay preview day, National Day Parade and National Day Preview, there will be a special timetable for northbound trains to terminate at this station. Northbound trains terminating at this station utilise the middle platform to execute a turnaround first before travelling back to Marina Bay. Also, when services are about to cease for the day, southbound trains travelling from Jurong East will terminate at platform B of the station for withdrawal. This is the only station where northbound and southbound trains can terminate.
