Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

P.S. One last helpful hint. To sign your posts like I did above (on talk pages, for example) use the '~' symbol. To insert just your name, type ~~~ (3 tildes), or, to insert your name and timestamp, use ~~~~ (4 tildes).

Thanks for fixing the table background on the various electronic music genres. Out of curiosity, what browser are you using? "lightgray" works fine for me in Galeon/Mozilla. Also, you might want to outline a rationale/policy for choosing background colors on Wikipedia:WikiProject Music genres so that when new genres are added, we have guidelines. Since this a rather large change, it should be discussed in a central place and the WikiProject(s) is the place to do it. Cheers --Lexor|Talk 00:26, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

I'm curious—why did you replace jazzfooter with an inlined table on Cool jazz? The only difference seems to be the color of the table. Gwalla | Talk 23:33, 18 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Yes, please change the Template:Jazzfooter! don't include markup inline, otherwise it has to be changed in multiple places. In general please discuss such changes on the relevant Talk pages particular Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Music genres. --Lexor|Talk 01:47, 19 Jul 2004 (UTC)

All fixed now. BTW I added smooth jazz to jazzfooter

[edit] "Smartly organized fleet"

I'm not sure what you mean by this statement (as seen in Delta Air Lines). Can you clarify what "smartly organized" means? I would think that Ryanair and Southwest Airlines beat Continental and Delta hands down when it comes to organizing their fleet. - Sekicho 23:01, Nov 4, 2004 (UTC)

I mean out of the world's major airlines. It means that the fleet is well planned out and are not so diverse. Also, I said that Delta and Continental are some of the most smartly organized fleets, not the absolutely best organized. For example, Northwest operates a fleet of Boeings, Airbuses, and McDonnell Douglases (DC-9 and DC-10, of which went out of production long before the acquisition by Boeing). The MD-80 and MD-90 were still produced after the acquisition. I wouldn't consider Northwest's fleet very smartly organized.
Also, Delta's MD-90s are possibly on the chopping block for retirement. They were originally Delta's 727 replacements, but the 737-800 proved to be a better aircraft for them. Their fate depends on Delta's financial condition. Andros 1337 23:58, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)
"Smartly organized" is an opinion. Wikipedia is for facts.
For that matter, "smartly organized" isn't a clear opinion. When I read it, it sounds like you're saying that Delta and Continental have more intelligent people selecting their airplanes (I'm American, so maybe you've been taught a different sense of "smart"). Whatever the intent of the phrase is, it's still not something that should be in an encyclopedia. All the stuff you said above, though, would be great in the articles... - Sekicho 00:44, Nov 5, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Edit summary

Hi. Please provide an edit summary. Thanks! Hyacinth 23:27, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] PlayStation in 128-bit era

I've reverted your edit- the standard here is for a console to be listed as part of an era if it's still on sale during that era (hence why the NES/SNES are in so many different eras). Sockatume 22:27, 27 Nov 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Article Licensing

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)

[edit] Largest mobile phone companies

I had moved the message to the talk page, that is where information for editors belongs. - SimonP 03:42, Dec 19, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Shortpages

Why did you add attention to Wikipedia:Shortpages? – ABCD 21:44, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

The page is highly outdated, and many of those articles are either expanded or no longer exsiting. Andros 1337 01:49, 30 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Galaxy Power Rangers

Please explain which CSD category this falls under so as to be speedily deleted. The guidelines are quite specific. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 19:29, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Those articles are a bit redundant with their main articles. Perhaps instead of deleting the articles, material from those articles should be merged into the main articles. Articles with the Rangers individually though should remain separate. Andros 1337 19:37, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)
 • As I said, the cases for speedy deletion are quite specific. I'll be removing any delete tags you've placed on these articles; if you wish them deleted, vfd is the path to take. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 19:40, 1 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Delta_767-400ER_N825MH.jpg

You uploaded this image and it's in the Delta Air Lines article. I'd like to replace it, since it is copyrighted, low res, and 3 pictures on the article would be a bit of overkill, with this image (a 757-232) which I am prepared to release under the GFDL. What do you think? CryptoDerk 21:05, Jan 12, 2005 (UTC)

I would prefer another 764, but it would still be okay. Andros 1337 04:06, 13 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Ah, I didn't know you had replied over here. OK, well I inserted my picture and left the others as is. Cheers. CryptoDerk 03:49, Jan 20, 2005 (UTC)
Also that Delta logo needs replacement, as they have reverted to the angular widget (as seen on their site). Andros 1337 04:11, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Cerulean blue

Please review the discussion here and see if you agree. (You had indicated that this article should be merged with cerulean.) CoyneT 23:50, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wal-Mart

Which part of Criticism of Wal-Mart do you feel is factually inaccurate? Rhobite 20:30, Feb 19, 2005 (UTC)

Almost all of it, particularly the Community impact and anti-competitive behaviour section. The NPOV issue section of the talk page somewhat thinks the same way. Andros 1337 20:34, 19 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Requests for page protection

Your requests for page protection has been archived. Should you feel that it is necessary to protect the page, please fully explain your request again, and why it is necessary to protect the article instead of going through Wikipedia:Dispute resolution. (i.e. User refuses to respond, user refuses to listen, hopes that page protection will draw their attention to come to a resolution, etc) -- AllyUnion (talk) 14:40, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Heavy metal genrebox

I have made a proposition at the discussion page of the article you were kind enough to point me to. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. Cheers. --Sn0wflake 03:15, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] bulk and skull

i don't give a goddamn what you think they are. they're not monsters, they're villains. they DO NOT DESERVE THEIR OWN PAGE IN THE WIKIPEDIA. that is why i placed them on the list of villains. you made an edit -- a REVERT -- without putting a note on my talk page. that's just plain rude. if you do not come up with some solution that involves them not having TWO IDENTICAL COPIES OF THE SAME WORTHLESS PAGE (incl merge node), i will revert them to the way i had them before. i have been as polite as i could possibly be in this instance. See also Fancruft. Have a nice day. Avriette 00:38, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Go to Rangercentral. They are in the allies (not villains) sections from MMPR to PRLG. Still disagree? Discuss the issue at Rangerboard and see for yourself.
BTW those articles will be merged. If those pages get moved back to the list of villains, it will be treated as vandalism and will be reverted immediately. Andros 1337 00:49, 16 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] I know I've missed the colors

Right now, I'm working on gathering the data from the Wikibooks Pokédex data. Later I might work on other things.

By the way, did you like the fact that I put the types into templates?

[edit] New Age music

I really know virtually nothing about New Age music, so I really can't help you. I'm not sure why I listed as separate, but I probably thought I had a pretty good reason. Feel free to do whatever you think is best (you might want to bring it up at Talk:New Age music, and Talk:Ambient music). Tuf-Kat

[edit] Colors for Pokemon types

I see you put the label of Munchlax as being a normal Pokemon in color. I think you should know, for future reference, that I have set up Pokemon Type templates. The full list is on the Wikiproject Pokedex page, under type. User142 21:06, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Disco colors

Do whatever you like with the colors. Someone had remarked on how eye-straining the pink was, so I thought I would try something else. Silver didn't work, it came out more like gray. So gold seemed like a good choice. Wahkeenah 02:58, 26 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] In the news

The In the news template cannot be updated with a new story unless the rules explained on Wikipedia:In the news section on the Main Page#Criteria for adding entries are followed. Current events hasn't been updated for the story and the bold articles don't have new information concerning this topic. When these changes are complete the article can be posted. BrokenSegue 02:52, 31 May 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Color

I removed the colors as part of the discussion at Wikipedia:Pokprosal#Color_concern. It seems that there was concensus for their removal. I must say that I hate the coloration because it makes it hard to read. This link is Broken 21:21, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] lots of edits, not an admin

Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 18:13, Jun 10, 2005 (UTC)

No, not right now. It is probably tough business to be an admin, and probably takes some free time away. Andros 1337 22:03, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Well...

Someone already added one to Scarlet (color) and there are already are more than 160 colors with Wikipedia articles. Any reason for it not to be time yet?? Georgia guy 17:20, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Well it is too late now, but I wanted to discuss the changes at Wikipedia talk: WikiProject Color to approve it with everybody else. Andros 1337 17:21, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] White

Do you know how to categorize white?? I put categories for each of the 7 colors of the spectrum red-orange-yellow-green-cyan-blue-violet, but white can't go in any of these. Georgia guy 17:57, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Create new categories Category:Shades of white, Category:Shades of grey, and Category:Shades of black. I created Category: Shades of pink BTW. Andros 1337 17:59, 25 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] A Pokemon Wiki

There is a Pokemon wiki at http://pokemon.wikicities.com/wiki/Home - it's not as good as the stuff we have here, but I think if we help, it may be within a few months. I think that us Wikipedians from the Pokemon project should help there to make is better. User142 30 June 2005 11:45 (UTC)

[edit] Heavy metal genrebox

I have decided to stand back this time around due to the fact that I have been involved in a great deal of disputes over the past few weeks, and am sincerely too tired to join another one at this point. I would like to suggest that you went directly to a mediation process, which I'm sure Spade will agree with. Discussion will clearly not take this discussion much farther than it did last time. Best regards. --Sn0wflake 01:30, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Expanding and improving the Pokémon articles

I saw your name on the WikiProject Pokédex rollcall. The Pokémon Adoption Center is improving, expanding, cleaning up, and reorganizing the Pokémon-related articles, and I wanted to invite you back to help. Some of the Pokémon species stubs still need to be adopted, and we're still building consensus on how to structure tools like categories and lists, designing new infoboxes, and writing a new Pokémon article style guide. If you're interested, take a look at our new Wikiportal, and come and contribute to the discussion at WP:PAC. - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 23:10, 12 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Groudon - Signature Attack

In the defnition of a signature attack, a signature attack has NOTHING to do with the Pokémon's last attack learned. At times, a Pokémon's signature attack can even be a TM, HM, or tutored move. Signature attacks can even vary by evolution. Andros 1337 16:16, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

 • Yes, but Eruption seems to be the most logical attack as Groudon is found wallowing in a pit of lava. --RealWingus 01:35, 14 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:767-400 N839MH.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:767-400 N839MH.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use article name or fairuse. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --SCEhardT 05:14, 21 December 2005 (UTC)

Does this really qualify as "spam"? I don't disagree with the removal of ranting, but I don't know if it is "spam". Is there something I missed, or was it just a little mistake? Thanks. --LV (Dark Mark) 19:08, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

It is flamebait, and is irrelevant to the article. Wikipedia is not a blog or a battleground. (WP:NOT). Andros 1337 20:00, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Right, I get all of that. I don't disagree with the removal. I was just a little concerned with its categorisation as "spam". --LV (Dark Mark) 20:29, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please check your WP:NA entry

Greetings, editor! Your name appears on Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts. If you have not done so lately, please take a look at that page and check your listing to be sure that following the particulars are correct:

 1. If you are an admin, please remove your name from the list.
 2. If you are currently interested in being considered for adminship, please be sure your name is in bold; if you are opposed to being considered for adminship, please cross out your name (but do not delete it, as it will automatically be re-added in the next page update).
 3. Please check to see if you are in the right category for classification by number of edits.

[edit] Order of Tables on PR articles

I know that logic tells you that the leader should be listed first, and what not, but the order in several of the articles follows any sort of numeric order seen as part of the outfits or the morphing sequence. This should logically be the order (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) in which they are listed. Ryulong 21:55, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

That is determined in Sentai, not in Power Rangers. Therefore, the order should be left the way it was. Rangercentral does it that way. Andros 1337 22:00, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Still, there are numbers on the costumes, and they should be taken into account. Ryulong 22:07, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
You should discuss this issue at Rangerboard IMO. Andros 1337 22:08, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Gillig Phantom

Why would you need a citation to verify the fact that the Gillig Phantom is one of the longest-running transit models? It's common industry knowledge.

Kitsap Transit in Bremerton, WA still runs some early 1983 models, Mason Transit Authority in Shelton, WA still runs some 1992 and 1993 models, and Intercity Transit in Olympia, Washington still operates a fleet of some 20 or so 1989 models.

Gillig builds the sturdiest bus possible, and many of their buses (even some of their 35-40 year old school buses still in existance) are still on the road some 20 or so years after they left the factory.

I've followed the history of the Gillig Corporation since I was very young and have a vast archive of information relating to the company and their buses. Srosenow 98 07:10, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

At BusTalk.net, the Gillig Phantom is widely regarded as a lighter-duty bus than many of its competitors, such as the New Flyer D40HF, the Orion V, and the Neoplan AN440. The Gillig Advantage, however, is considered to be heavier-duty than the Phantom. Andros 1337 18:24, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
I find that to be odd, since the Gillig Corporation has always advertised the Phantom as a heavy-duty bus platform. I have in fact a brochure from 1982 announcing the arrival of the Phantom and it advertised it as the "next generation" heavy duty transit bus. It is widely regarded as being a heavy duty bus for most transit agencies in Washington State, several fleets of which exclusively run the Phantom. The following quotes are in fact taken from their own website, at the Phantom product page and the Products list page:
"A heavy duty, high floor transit bus that set the standard for reliability, durability and value when it was introduced in the early 1980’s"
"Phantom, a standard floor height heavy-duty transit bus, first introduced in the early 1980's and still used today. Called a fleet workhorse, it has built a reputation of reliability, durability, and value. Of course today it incorporates the latest technologies and many product improvements."
Since the Phantom was nothing more than a rebodied school bus (the front roofcap, roof curve, and windshield elements share similarities with the previous roundbody school bus design from 1967-1982), it already had a legacy of heavy-duty service behind it when it was introduced. Several dozen Gillig school buses are still on the road in Washington State, and in California, some 30 years after they left the factory. And there are some 23-year-old Phantoms still in daily service in some portions of Washington State alone.
The Phantom's overall design has also remain largely unchanged since its 1982 debut, making it one of the longest-running transit bus models to date alone. Not to sound like a sales rep for Gillig (for which I'm not), but Gillig does not, and has never under any circumstances built a light-duty vehicle in their 100+ year history. That I do know from my years of research into the company and the products in which they've built. Srosenow 98 09:30, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fire Pokémon / Electric Pokémon

I was just thinking we should use the officially used colors instead of simple X11 color names. That way, we wouldn't have to worry about having to make up colors (I don't remember Dragon Pokémon ever being referred to as orange; it's always been a dark teal color). The hex triplets of the colors as used in the games have been listed in the PCP's talk page, in case you didn't know. I just thought it'd be nice to use the real colors used in the games (a soft, orange color instead of bright red for Fire). --Brandon Dilbeck 16:56, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

However, those colors are not universally applied. The TCG uses a different color scheme from the 3G games, and even Pokemon Stadium used a different scheme. In most media, Fire is usually associated with red, plus that the color association of the classical element of Fire is traditionally red. Andros 1337 18:40, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
The trading card game only deals with 9 types (right?), so it doesn't even deal with all of them, or account for the types that aren't in the game. (What color would Bug be if it were in the card game? Green's already taken by Grass.) Maybe we could post this conflict on the Pokémon Collaborative Project's talk page and see what other Pokémon fans say (and some might not even like this idea of adding templates). Oh, I just noticed that you're not in the PCP. You seem to like Pokémon; you should consider joining. --Brandon Dilbeck 19:29, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Color of Template

Please notice I have all the fleet tables the light blue which incorporates with this template to know you are on a "SkyTeam" page. I did change back the color to light blue.

[edit] ABQ RIDE bus #501

I am not currently living in Albuquerque and have not seen any of the new buses. In any case, the anon's claimed sighting is not exactly verifiable and probably shouldn't be in the article.

On a somewhat different note, we should probably move the article to ABQ RIDE, since that seems to be how it is universally referred to on the city website now. Camerafiend 02:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MD-90

Hello.. Sorry for the delayed response, but we've been without electricity up here in the Northwest. I think my rationale for calling the MD-90 the RJ of its day is that in general the initial DC-9 family of planes was generally for 100 seat, short haul markets. I admit I misremember the seat count of the MD-90 (I believe I was thinking of the MD-95/717, which for the most part is a DC-9 replacement) DC-9s and the larger RJ's (E190 etc) play in the same 100 seat, 1-2 hour market.) Also if you take a peek at the edit summary, I was removing an unsubstantiated criticism that the MD-90 was not successful due to its lack of transcontinental ability, I did not put that MD-90s were the RJ's of their day into the article, just the edit summary. Oh: Yes, to the US Airways-Delta Merger.. ;-) —Cliffb 02:40, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New ABQ RIDE Buses

I recall you asked me about what model the 35 new ABQ RIDE buses would be. Well, I talked to Greg Payne (the transit director) today, and he confirmed that they were New Flyer models. The reason why the article said Gillig before was that ABQ RIDE was going to do a "piggyback order" with another transit agency where they order the same model of buses. However Greg Payne didn't like the idea of a piggyback deal, so he made a specific order for the 40-foot New Flyer buses.

Anyway, hope that clears that up. :) PerryPlanet 23:46, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

I was at the meeting for the next Rapid Ride route today, and got the same answer. Thanks anyway. Andros 1337 23:58, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oneworld Colors Compliment

Thank you for adding the oneworld colors to all the tables in the airlines page. I have stuck to this idea with the SkyTeam carriers, and I have tried to do this before, but many people have reverted my edits.--Golich17 00:25, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Haha Yeah, my bad.

Sorry about that...I'm a huge aviation enthusiast so I know that. I must have accidentally reverted it.
