Andy "The Wolverine" Curtiss (born November 14, 1978 in Rome, New York)is an American mixed martial artist and Professional No- Holds-Barred Fighter, notable for his success in the early years of American Independent Karate Association National Championship tournaments.

Curtiss has a long history in Greco-Roman and folkstyle wrestling. He started wrestling at the Pee-Wee level when he was 8 years old. He continued his scholastic wrestling career throughout elementary, Junior High and High School. After his Senior year at Adirondack Senior High in Boonville New York, he was offered a walk on scholarship for wrestling at Syracuse University. He instead chose to join the United States Army. He was assigned to and stationed at Ft. Bliss Texas located in ElPaso, Texas.

Andy was invited to compete in [Super Brawl 9 http://fcfighter.brinkster.net/events.asp?EventInstanceID=628]. He had registered for the event rather late and had only 2 weeks to train. During the training he had incurred several abrasions and a broken toe on his right foot. The rumor was out on Ft.Bliss, one of its soldiers was going to fight on the up and coming Pay-Per-View event, and Andy was warned not to fight because he was government property.September 19, 1998at The ElPaso County Coliseum Andy was registered to fight in Super Brawl 9 Sponsored by [[[Power House Gym]]http://www.powerhousegym.com] of ElPaso Texas. Andy had entered the tournament as an alternate and was later admitted to fight as a Professional MMA Fighter. Andy fell short of winning any title by suffering a defeat by Danny Pfeau of Hawaii. It was during this competition that Andy met his longtime role model and personal hero Dan Severn http://www.thedangerzone.com/]. Since that day Dan and Andy have hosted several clinics and seminars in Grappling together. Andy has also worked for Dan by setting up and arranging personal appearances at public locales. It is said that Andy is currently working on bringing Dan's Danger Zone Productions to North Carolina and working to legalize MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)in North Carolina.

Andy attended Adirondack Senior High in Boonville New York, where he was a student when he captured the A.I.K.A (American Independent Karate Association)Championship title in 1995. Andy was a senior who also participated in the school's extra curricular activities. Andy was an avid wrestler who had been wrestling for 10 years at the time. Andy also kick boxed and would often participate in "Friday Night Fights" at gyms ,schools and clubs throughout the Upstate New York area. Andy had been competing in B and C class Karate tournaments for four years before being invited to the AA and AAA level tournaments such as the A.I.K.A. National qualifier in 1995. Andy had dominated each division he competed in in the 3 main categories; Kumite, Forms and Weapons. March 19,1995 Andy had made his short lived and long remembered debut on the AA tournament scene. He competed in the Men's Adult Brown and Black belt division; where he had placed first in every category he competed in. Most impressive was his sparring and weapons abilities. Andy was known for fierce intensity and competitiveness coupled with his uncanny speed , flexibility and power. Many of the competitors in his division feared he would injure them in a match and did not want to compete against him. AndyBold text introduced the walking cane as a martial arts weapon in the weapons category when he completed his routine he received a standing ovation. Later on in the year November 1995 Andy traveled to Erie Pennsylvania to claim the 1st ever A.I.K.A. National title. After 2 days of intense competition on a AAA level Andy left Erie as a triple crown title holder. Andy held all three main titles in Kumite, Forms and Weapons. Andy had just won the Men's Black belt titles with only days to go before turning 17. Later that month Andy had competed in the N.A.K.A. (North American Kick boxing Association)World Amateur Kick boxing Championship; where he had become the Runner-up in the Cruiser weight class.

July 15, 1996 Andy joined the United States Army. Andy became a member of the United States Army Special Forces where he became a veteran in The Global War on Terror where he was recommended for the Silver Star and awarded the Bronze Star with a "v" device. It was in the Special Forces where he developed his own Military Combatives system for his Operational Detachment Alpha.8 years after Super Brawl 9 Andy ended his tenure in the Military and started his own company The [Dark Knight Protective Agency and Academy http://www.darkknightprotective.zoomshare.com/]. It is a protective Agency based out of Fayetteville NC specializing in Fugitive Recovery, Surveillance and Threat Vulnerability Assessment operations; as well as training Government , Military, Law Enforcement and Security organizations in protective sciences.
