Andrew Lambert (born 22 September 1956) bought The Tabernacle, Machynlleth, a former Wesleyan chapel, in 1984. He established a charitable company, The Machynlleth Tabernacle Trust, and, after extensive renovation, The Tabernacle reopened as a centre for the performing arts on 11 October 1986.

Andrew studied at Winchester College from 1969 to 1974 and at Clare College, Cambridge from 1975 to 1978. Andrew was a regular speaker at the Cambridge Union Society. He was President of the Clare College Students' Association (now the Union of Clare Students) from 1977 to 1978.

Andrew worked as a gardener in Winchmore Hill from 1978 to 1979 and in Finchley and Westminster from 1998 to 1999.

From 1979 to 1980 Andrew was a clerical journalist for Reuters Economic News at 85 Fleet Street, London.

In 1988 Andrew's poem The Compressionist (3 sonnets in iambic tetrameters) was produced by the September Press. Andrew defined Compressionism as a synthesis of Impressionism and Expressionism.

[edit] The Bahamas

Between 1990 and 1992 Andrew worked as a tutor on Harbour Island in The Bahamas. In 1992, after Hurricane Andrew, he set up a relief school called Andrew's School.

[edit] The Millennium Centre

In 1994 Andrew published his idea for a massive conjunction of 20 schemes in the vicinity of Heathrow Airport to be entitled The Millennium Centre. His proposals were not accepted.

Andrew has said publicly that he is a recovering alcoholic.

Andrew is currently learning Welsh and Italian, planting an arboretum and completing a narrative in verse.
