I saw that this page hadn't been created. There is a lot of information about more modern catalysts etc. that could be included to flesh it out. Some sources say that this is an oxidation of methane and ammonia but I don't think that is correct. The hydrolysis of hydrogen cyanide produces formic acid and regenerates the ammonia. The amount of oxygen used in the reaction is the same as that used to oxidize methane to carbonic acid. Gly 00:01, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
