"It's population in Northern Chile was badly hit by drought, which cause the breeding lagoon areas to dry up, either preventing nest building, or allowing predation especially from the Culpeo Fox, Pseudalopex culpaeus."

And all this took place when? Was it some time ago, or recently? How has the population fared since then? For all the information mentioned in the article, this drought may have occurred several thousand years ago. :\ 71.217.98.158 05:18, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
