Andy Stochansky

Andy Stochansky ( born March 27th ) is a Canadian singer-songwriter signed to RCA U.S.. After touring as Ani DiFranco's drummer for several years, he released his solo debut album, While You Slept, in 1996. Since then, he has released four more albums.

Two songs from his 2002 album Five Star Motel, "Wonderful (It's Superman)" and "Stutter," received considerable radio attention. That album was produced by Tom Rothrock, but Stochansky chose Goo Goo Dolls frontman Johnny Rzeznik to produce his followup album, 100. According to Stochansky, Rzeznik warned him, "the critics would eat me alive for working with him," but Stochansky chose to go forward with the project anyway, saying, "and that's when I said, great, lets get started!" The first single from 100, titled "Shine," was covered by Australian Idol competitor Shannon Noll.

As well as playing guitar, Andy plays piano and drums. He is now writing and cowriting for other artists between Los Angeles and Toronto. He guest-starred on the WB series Charmed as himself in the episode Spin City. His song "Here Nor There" was also featured in Episode 203 of the Showtime series Queer As Folk. "Shine" has been used for Hollywood film "Better Than the Steins" as well rugby commercials in the UK. "On The Radio" has been used in U.S. TV Series "Brothers and Sisters".
