Andrew Stepanian is an anarchist animal rights activist and a political prisoner. He is part of the SHAC 7. In March 2006 he was convicted of one charge of conspiracy to violate the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. Stepanian's involvement in the conspiracy to cause financial damages to HLS was limited to organizing and attending protests, but he was found to have worked in concert with other activists who encouraged others to harass the vivisection company Huntingdon Life Sciences by sending blank black faxes. He began serving a three year sentence at FCI Butner Medium II in the fall of 2006.

Stepanian was a volunteer member of the Animal Defense League of Long Island and went with other members of the group to Gulf Coast in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to bring supplies to survivors and rescue animals who had been abandoned.
