[edit] Coaching career

In 1992 Ludwig came to Utah to be the Graduate assistant for the defense. 1993-1994 saw Ludwig at Augustana College (South Dakota) as the offensive coordinator. 1995-1996 he was the quarterback coach at Boise State. In 1997 Ludwig was at California Polytechnic State University as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach a role he would retain at the other program he would be at over the years. 1998-2001 Ludwig was in Fresno State. 2002-2004 was considered the peak of his career being at the University of Oregon. After some difficult years Ludwig was hired by close personal friend and newly named Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham for the 2005 season.
[edit] Controversy
Much criticism has been leveled at Ludwig ever since he took over at Oregon. Oregon's record before Ludwig became offensive coordinator was 10-2 in 2000 and 11-1 in 2001. For the three years Ludwig was at Oregon his record was 7-6, 8-4 and 5-6. The record for Oregon after he left was 10-2. Ludwig inherited a hot Utah offense after Urban Meyer left yet was only capable of creating a 7-5 record. Many sports fans, pundits and local media personalities in the Utah area have called for Ludwig's firing. His supporters on the other hand point to his records at Fresno State and Boise State as proof of his ability. [1] [2] [3]
