Andy Caldecott

Andy Caldecott (10 August 1964 – 9 January 2006), was an off road motorcycle racer born in Keith, South Australia. He won the Australian Safari Rally four times consecutively (2001-2004) and was a competitor in the Dakar Rally in 2004 (DNF), 2005 (6th), and 2006 when he was killed during the 9th stage of rally, 250km into the 599 km special stage from Nouakchott to Kiffa. He was the 23rd death in the 28 years of the rally. Caldecott won a stage of the rally.
Even though he pushed himself to the limits he was known for his easy going manner and humility.
At the time of his death, he was married with one child (and another on the way), and operated a motorcycle shop in Keith.
