Andrew Refshauge

Andrew Refshauge was born on the 16 January 1949, in Melbourne. Andrew has a brother, Richard Refshauge, who is the present Director of Public Prosecutions for the ACT. Refshauge went on to study medicine and joined the Australian Labor Party. In 1983 he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Assembly as the member for Marrickville. He served in a variety of portfolios, as well as rising to be the leader of the left faction of the party and deputy premier of the state. He was publicly opposed to Australia joining in the invasion of Iraq [1]. He resigned in August 2005, soon after the retirement of the premier, Bob Carr.
