Andrew Dan-Jumbo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Andrew Dan-Jumbo was a carpenter on the TV home makover show, While You Were Out [1] and has a new show on TLC, "Take Home Handyman" premiering on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 1:00PM, EST.[2] Dan-Jumbo was born in Africa to wealthy parents, although his family lost their fortune and had to flee Nigeria during a revolution, so Dan-Jumbo grew up poor in England. His mother raised him while his doctor father stayed behind to treat patients in Africa.

Dan-Jumbo is a skilled carpenter who has endeared himself to audiences with his charm, good looks (he has worked as a model and was voted one of People Magazine's 100 Most Beautiful People) [3][4] and sometimes erratic behavior: he has been known to vanish during the critical final hours of a building project, only to be discovered making phone calls or doing laundry in the homeowner's machine. He is also known for his confrontational t-shirts, with slogans like "Your girlfriend thinks I'm hot."

Dan-Jumbo has a sometimes silly sense of humor, and is not above farting in a designer's face (as he once did with Chayse Decoda) for a laugh.

Dan-Jumbo also occasionally appears as a carpenter on Trading Spaces, and has been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show and other shows.
