André Weinfeld was born in Paris, France. After receiving a Master Degree in Psychology, Philosophy and French Literature at the Sorbonne University, he graduated Cum Laude from the Institut des Hautes Etudes Cinématographiques (IDHEC), the internationally renowned French Film School.

After numerous collaborations, first as a Film Camera Operator and then as a Cinematographer, to several "French New Wave" short and full-length feature films, André Weinfeld became - at age 19 - the youngest television director, producer and journalist in France.

For the next 10 years, André involved himself in directing, reporting and producing over 70 weekly news and documentary magazine programs and French Network Specials covering everything from fashion, the music scene (Woodstock Festival, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, The Beatles, Janis Joplin, James Brown, Steve Winwood, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, etc.) and world political issues (Palestinian Refugees, American Indian Movement, International Summit Meetings, Interviews and Features of world leaders President De Gaulle, Israeli Premier Menachem Begin, General Moshe Dayan and Zaire President Mobutu), accepting as well several "hard news" assignments as a Special War Correspondent to Israel, Syria and Lebanon during the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War.

Having met Actress Raquel Welch in Paris in 1977 while putting the finishing touches to his latest feature screenplay, "La Clé sur la porte" with actors Patrick Dewaere and Annie Girardot, André Weinfeld decided to move to Hollywood to join and eventually marry her in 1980.

His work as a Commercial and Editorial Photographer for the Sygma Corbis news agency has appeared worldwide on the covers and in the pages of Life magazine, Newsweek, Time magazine, Playboy magazine, Paris Match, Elle, Bunte, Woman's Own, etc. His photographs have also been chosen to represent Hasselblad's renowned professional camera products in one of that company's recent international advertising campaign.

Divorced from Raquel Welch in 1990, André Weinfeld is now hard at work on the development of several feature films and television projects for his New York-based Production Company.

He is the father of Zachary Weinfeld, born in Paris in 1994.
