Andre Ward (born February 23, 1984 in Oakland, California) is an American boxer who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the Gold Medal in the light heavyweight division. He was the only American boxer to win Gold at that Olympics (the US didn't win any boxing medals in 2000). He has since begun a professional career where he is currently undefeated with 11 wins and 6 knockouts, competing in the middleweight division (160 pound limit). He is known for his ability to fight from both orthodox and southpaw stances, as well as his speed and technical mastery. On the other hand he's not a very hard puncher and has been decked by light hitting D.Boone even though he has shed over 15 lbs since his amateur days to compete against smaller fighters.
