André Schneider (born André-Marc Schneider) is an actor. He was born on March 10, 1978, in Hildesheim, Germany.
The attractive, multilingual Schneider made his first impression as a stand-up comedian in Great Britain and Ireland, before he chalked up a string of parts in international film productions, such as The Tulse Luper Suitcases (directed by Peter Greenaway) and Deed Poll (co-starring Barbara Kowa), in which he proved willing to bare body and soul. In about twenty movies, he has established himself as an important and versatile part of the European arthouse cinema. In theater, he has appeared as Puck in Ian Talbot's West End production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream. In 2006, he wrote, produced and starred in Half Past Ten, based on the Marguerite Duras novel, Dix heures et demie du soir en été. Other film credits include Riot at the Rite with Adam Garcia and Alex Jennings, The Last Drop with Billy Zane, and Basic Instinct 2 with Sharon Stone and Charlotte Rampling.
Between 1997 and 2006, Schneider has also released four music albums, such as Lover's Space and Letters From the Whorehouse Exile. His first book, Life is a Sexually Transmitted Disease, was published in 2004 and revealed his distinctive humor. Schneider lives in Berlin and Paris.
