André Milongo

André Milongo (born October 20, 1935) is a former Prime Minister of the Republic of the Congo (June 1991 to August 1992). He was the first Congolese leader of the "Democratic" era and is often credited for organizing the first democratic presidential elections of Congo.

Milongo began his professional career in 1964 as the first Congolese Director of Treasury — "Trésorier Payeur Général" — in his then newly independent country. His spent five years at this post managing the country's fiscal revenues.
