André Gertler, (July 26, 1907 – July 23, 1998) was a classical violinist and teacher. Born in Budapest, Hungary, he fled the country under the Nazis. He was a teacher at the Royal Conservatory of Music, in Brussels, Belgium.
Gertler was a friend and admirer of Béla Bartók, and he recorded all the works that B. composed for the violin, including his two concertos. He is considered one of the best players of Bartók's music. His recording of the 44 duos for violins with Josef Suk is known to be one of the best versions available.
