Andale Mono is a monospace sans-serif typeface designed by Steve Matteson for terminal emulation and software development environments. The Andale design was originally created by Monotype and is presently owned by Ascender Corp.
Andale Mono was first distributed as an Internet Explorer 4.0 add-on. While this typeface does not come preinstalled on modern versions of Microsoft Windows it is bundled with Mac OS X.
This typeface is used by programmers for use in text editors and IDEs for its legibility and easily identifiable characters.
