From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ancient Indian kingdoms are the kingdoms that are mentioned in ancient Indian literature, which includes the Vedas, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and the Puranas. This literature was written in the Vedic or Sanskrit language. The biggest source of information about these kingdoms is the great Indian epic Mahabharata. All these kingdoms are located in the Indian Sub-Continent, comprising the modern-day countries India, Pakistan, Afganistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Srilanka. Some of the kingdoms are also partly in neighbouring countries China, Iran, and the Central Asian republics Tajikistan, Kyrgistan, Usbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhistan.
