The Anchorage Northern Knights were a team in the Eastern Basketball Association and the Continental Basketball Association from 1977 to 1981. They won the 1980 CBA Championship, and reached the 1979 CBA finals. They were, at the time, the only CBA team on the West Coast, as all the other squads were in the Pennsylvania-New York-New Jersey area. During the team's first two seasons, the Knights started their regular schedule with an extended homestand; then began a mid-season bus trip to every CBA team in the league; then finished out the season with another homestand. Brad Davis spent two years with the Northern Knights, and later played several seasons with the NBA's Dallas Mavericks where he became the first player to have his jersey number retired by the NBA team.

The Northern Knights played their home games in Anchorage West High School's Gymnasium for the 77-78, 80-81, and 81-82 seasons. In the 78-79 & 79-80 seasons, they played in the Anchorage Civic Auditorium, but had to return to West High School when attandance sales began to drop
