[edit] lots of edits, not an admin

Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. You've been previously nominated, but I'm not sure whether you're still interested. If so, can you add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? If for any reason you're NOT interested, you could entirely remove yourself from the list if you'd like. I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 15:00, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)

Sure, thanks for the note. Jordi· 16:32, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

[edit] weird character issues in WP:1000

Hi - This edit you just made to WP:1000 introduced some weird characters (extra ";"'s here and there and changed a few ">" to >). You fixed a few in your edit as well. Any idea where these came from? I fixed the ones I noticed, but if your browser is doing something weird I thought you should know. -- Rick Block (talk) July 8, 2005 02:14 (UTC)

No idea where they come from. I think my browser is to blame: I am forced to use MSIE at the moment. I'm certainly not introducing them on purpose... Jordi· 8 July 2005 02:17 (UTC)
I can't even see them in the edit window: the edit I submit looks fine, the corruption must occur during the saving. Must be some issue with large articles, I'll just not touch them for now until I can get back behind a good browser. Jordi· 8 July 2005 02:24 (UTC)

[edit] Eteocretan language

Anarion, back in Dec 2004 you wrote in that article that similarities have been found between the Eteocretan language and the Phrygian language---what was your source for that info? I'm going to google for that in the meanwhile. Thanks, Decius 9 July 2005 16:31 (UTC)

I can't now recall. I'll see if I can find it again, keep in mind Eteocretan is often called Minoan. Jordi· 9 July 2005 17:56 (UTC)

Yes, no relevant sites come up when searching either "Eteocretan, Phrygian" or "Minoan, Phrygian". Also, I can't remember ever reading of such an alleged connection in any reference work. Eteocretan has been tentatively connected to the Anatolian languages, but Phrygian is not an Anatolian language in linguistic terms. Decius 9 July 2005 18:35 (UTC)

[edit] Lorraine, Lothier and Lotharingia

The styles of Upper and Lower Lorraine did in fact diverge over time. It's true that they were both "Lotharingia" in the Latin styles; but in French, Upper Lorriane became "Lorraine", while Lower Lorraine became "Lothier". (See this collection of styles for confirmation.) Since we use the French style for the upper duchy, I suppose it makes sense to do the same for the lower duchy as well. [edit] lange IJ

Thanks for explainations.
So ij is pronounced like ei?, is it a homophone writing? Please answer to me at Catalan User Talk

[edit] more questions

OK. Sorry, but I'm really curious to know how does man tell the name of y. Anybopdy told to me that in Flemmish everybody tells it as 'ipsilon':

  • first, it is the correct orthograph?
  • and, it exists another name for this letter?

I've another question: Do you know if letters b,c,d,g,j,h,k,p,q,t,v,w,z are pronounced with long vowels, and letters f,l,m,n,r,s are pronounced with a short [e].

And then I believe I won't disturb you more. THANKS for ALL.
Information about names of letter is really difficultous to find, this is the question because I address to you.

[edit] Me once more :)

I thought you can help me about another question. Do you know when we must double the vowel to indicate that is long? Also, do you know where I can find text, in english, french or spanish about Dutch spelling rules? I want complete article about Dutch spelling in Catalan Wikipedia

[edit] Half r

Hi. I couldn't figure out who's uploaded Image:Half-r.jpg, but it was you who included it in half r, so I suppose you're the one. The thing is, this is not an image of the half r, but of the insular r, see page 68 of MUFI character recommendation v. 2.0 b: Alphabetical order (25 September 2005) - PDF file, 1.2 MB, the most up-to-date specifications of the Medieval Unicode Font Initiative. I've uploaded an image of the half r of the Leeds font:

Image:half r.png

It seems that images can't be moved? If they really can't, then I'll propose the old Image:Half-r.jpg be deleted and re-uploaded as insular r. -- j. 'mach' wust | 12:33, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Hm, I see it wasn't you, sorry for bothering! -- j. 'mach' wust | 12:40, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Well, at yet another closer look, I see that you're using another name at commons.wikimedia.org, so it really was you... Whatever... :-) -- j. 'mach' wust | 12:50, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying me.Jordi· 18:33, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Halibutt

Since you have supported me during my my RfA, I wonder if you could review and comment on the RfA for Halibutt, the first person I have nominated myself. There seem to be a heated debate and votes of experienced, unbiased editors would be appreciated.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 19:14, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I'm happy to support him. Jordi· 19:35, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks. WikiThanks.
I would like to express my thanks to all the people who took part in my (failed) RfA voting. I was both surprised and delighted about the amount of support votes and all the kind words! I was also surprised by the amount of people who stated clearly that they do care, be it by voting in for or against my candidacy. That's what Wiki community is about and I'm really pleased to see that it works.
As my RfA voting failed with 71% support, I don't plan to reapply for adminship any more. However, I hope I might still be of some help to the community. Cheers! Halibutt 05:10, 29 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Tolkien

Hello; I'm not sure if we have corresponded in the past.

I noticed you (by one of your earlier names) entering some discussions that mentioned Tolkien's work, then when I finally tracked down your current identity I checked your recent edits. Quite a bit of Tolkien.

Just in case you don't know: Wikicities have two Tolkien-based wikicities, Lord of the Rings and Tolkien Languages. Both would benefit from your attention, I'm sure.

Kind regards

Robin Patterson 04:18, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Babel

Could you consider adding this template to your userpage? It is very helpful in case translators are needed and such.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus Talk 15:28, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

This is a very good idea. I have added it for those languages I feel comfortable with. Jordi· 15:56, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Schieringers and Vetkopers

I've read the article you posted that describes the above conflict. Unfortunately the article you used for the English and Nederlands posting is full of mistakes. The original author was poorly informed and mixed up events, dates, etc. I have a much more accurate account taken from the Dutch language Encyclopedie van Friesland (1958). With your permission I would like to replace both your English and Nederlands articles with this Frisian article.

Respectfully, --Mteichert 15:11, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

By all means go ahead. Jordi· 19:37, 18 December 2005 (UTC)

Maybe later. Grab a textbook yourself. Jordi· 21:02, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision

Hello, mate, I see that you are interested in Eurovision. Would you like to be involved in connecting with more eurovision wikipedians to do up the eurovision pages in a more coherent manner? I have come across the Eurovision wikiproject page, which seems to have been dormant for over two years. It may be an idea to have a look there and see how we could improve the eurovision coverage. I have done up the Congratulations (Eurovision) page so far and put notes about it on the pages of those who performed there. Best regards from Australia, Blnguyen 23:54, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tolkien date conventions

The creation of the Middle-earth portal has started me thinking about this topic. There's a bit of new discussion on a talk page you posted quite informatively on, and I'd be interested to know your thoughts. I'm not trying to start a revolution or anything, just raising an idea. It's all at the Talk page for the "Timeline of Arda" article.--UrbaneLegend 19:20, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please check your WP:NA entry

Greetings, editor! Your name appears on Wikipedia:List of non-admins with high edit counts. If you have not done so lately, please take a look at that page and check your listing to be sure that following the particulars are correct:

  1. If you are an admin, please remove your name from the list.
  2. If you are currently interested in being considered for adminship, please be sure your name is in bold; if you are opposed to being considered for adminship, please cross out your name (but do not delete it, as it will automatically be re-added in the next page update).
  3. Please check to see if you are in the right category for classification by number of edits.

Thank you, and have a wiki wiki day! BD2412 T 04:22, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Silmarillion

I don't have a problem with your changes. There is a vast difference between your, some say that parts of The Silmarillion are more a product..., and the previous, The Silmarillion is more a product... Review of the History of Middle-earth volumes shows that the vast majority of the text was taken verbatim from JRRT's work. Thus I consider it 'more a product' of JRRT than CJRT overall. However, as you note, there were editorial adjustments throughout for 'consistency' and complete rewriting for the sack of Doriath. --CBDunkerson 18:38, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hi

I was wondering, if you were interested, in joining WikiProject Middle-earth. We've revamped, and unofficially merged with the rest of the Tolkien-related to WikiProject to start over since the others were inactive. The WikiProject's still in his baby stages, so we've just started officially today.

We need more members and this WikiProject is a good way for all the Tolkien fans to come join together in an organized and efficient way so that maybe one day, one of the Tolkien-related articles may reach to FA status, among other things. If you join, my thanks :D. —Mirlen 16:22, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] J. R. R. Tolkien

Hi! My name is Mike, and I wanted to let you know that this article is up for Featured Article Status! It is SOOO CLOSE! And as someone who has worked on this article a lot in the past (having checked the history) I thought you could help me fix the inline citations. As I have none of the books in question, I am out of luck, but thought real enthusiasts might be able to help. So, please help, or get those who you know can to help make Tolkien a featured article! Thanks much! Judgesurreal777 18:07, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Caron/hacek vote

There's a vote on Talk:caron where the article should be if you're interested. +Hexagon1 (talk) 10:11, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your sig

Have a look at this, it says one should avoid system resource drain by using template sigs (if not subst:-ed). +Hexagon1 (talk) 11:43, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

I am aware of that guideline. Should I decide to increase my editing again I will certainly reconsider my sig. -- Jordi· 11:51, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
