Amy Diamond (born on April 15, 1992) is a Swedish pop singer. She became famous in Sweden when she was only 12 years old with her debut single What's in It for Me. It was a big hit in Sweden and its neighbouring countries in 2005, being in the Swedish top ten for four months. She has released two successful albums and is also a popular television performer in Sweden.[1][2]
Her biggest hits in Sweden so far have been the 2005 catchy-chorused songs What's in It for Me, Welcome to the City, Champion, Shooting Star and Don't Cry Your Heart Out, the first song was a hit also in the Swedish neighbouring states Denmark, Norway and Finland. It was also the most played song by mid 2005 in Poland.

Amy Diamond was born on April 15, 1992 to an English father and a Swedish mother in Norrköping, Sweden. Soon after her birth the family moved to England, where she lived until she was 4 ½. After that her family moved back to Sweden, this time to Jönköping. There she started figure skating as a hobby when she was 6 years old, and also went to a dance and theater school. She participated in some theater and TV productions and has won gold medals in figure skating.[1][3][4]
Diamond has loved singing since she was two years old. One of her first public performances was at 8 years of age on a talent show Småstjärnorna, where she performed miming Belinda Carlisle's Heaven is a Place on Earth and became 3rd. In 2004 she participated in many talent competitions, among which were Minimelodifestivalen and Swedish TV4's Super Troupers. In Mix megapol summer idol the main prize was to record a song in a studio, and in the recording studio she was discovered and offered a commercial record deal. What's in It for Me was released in the following February.[5][1][6][1][7][4]

The single was a huge success even though some Swedish TV stations refused to show the music video, saying that she was too young. Despite that it got a lot of radio play, and by March it reached the top position on the Swedish singles chart and had sold worth a gold record. Due to the success a full album was recorded and This Is Me Now was released in May 2006. The album was a hit too, and by mid 2006 she went on a concert tour around Sweden and appeared on numerous TV shows.[1][8]
In July 2006 she signed a distribution deal with Warner to promote it internationally. During mid 2006 the album had also became popular in Denmark, Norway, Finland and Poland. In late 2005 she went on a promotion tour in Central Europe and filmed a new music video for What's in It for Me in Barcelona. She appeared on TV in Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands, and a special edition of the album was released, which cointained 2 new songs.[8]
Diamond was nominated for several awards in 2005. At the young age of only 13, as the youngest performer ever, she received the NMA Award (Nordic Music Award) for the best Nordic hit ("What's in It for Me") in Denmark. She´s also the youngest artist ever to receive two NRJ Radio Awards for Best Swedish Act and Best Swedish Female Artist. Diamond is the youngest ever artist nominated for the Swedish Grammis. She had three nominations: Best Swedish Female Artist, Song of the Year And The newcomer of the year. Diamond also received a Nickelodeon award for Hit of the Year. She had nominations for the Swedish Rockbjörnen. She also received the very exclusive award "Best Swedish Artist" from Poland.[9]

In February 2006 Diamond started recording her second album. The first single from the new album was called Don't Cry Your Heart Out, and Still Me Still Now was released in May. Despite the relatively quiet early 2006 when not much was heard about her, the second album was very successful. It had sold worth a gold record 2 days before its official release date, on pre-orders only.[10][11]
In mid 2006 Amy Diamond toured Sweden with Diggiloo tour, where she performed, among other songs, Edith Piaf's Je ne regrette rien. During mid 2006 Amy was crowned 2006 Summer Tour Queen in the largest evening newspaper Aftonbladet where the readers vote for the artists. She released two more singles during late 2006, Big Guns and It Can Only Get Better.
Diamond also received other type of requests in addition to her music career. In 2006 she did also some print modeling and TV work. She appeared in a mail-order catalogue for Ellos, and did some promotional work for Statoil and the sport store chain Stadium.[12] In December, she appeared as an ice princess in the Swedish Christmas series Lassemajas detektivbyrå.[13]

In 2007, Amy Diamond starting a fan club and publishes a fan magazine. She is working on her third album and looks forward to doing her own tour during mid 2007.
