Amsheet also spelled Amchit is a predominantly Christian seaside town in Lebanon about 50 km north of Beirut and about About 2 km north of Byblos.[1] There are many old churches in Amsheet, as well as a mosque.

Amsheet's population is around 10,000. The people of Amsheet are Lebanese. The majority of the inhabitants are Christians with a small Shia minority.

Amsheet is known for its baskets and mats woven from palm leaves. Olive and citrus fruits are the main agricultural products of the town.

The house of Ernest Renan the French philosopher who lived in Amsheet for a long period in th 19th century can be visited and so can the tomb of his sister who was burried at St. Marie Church.
The Church of Saint George was built on an ancient temple and the altar has both Greek and Arabic inscriptions.[2]
The adjoining churches of Saint Mary and Saint Stephen retain their ancient vaulted porches and wall paintings. The churches were built on the remains of a Roman temple.
The Church of Saint Nicholas has Medieval wall paintings.

The town is home to Lebanon's only organized coastal campsite.

Amsheet was attacked by Israel in the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict. A military base on the coast of Amsheet was attacked.
