Welcome!
Welcome to Wikipedia, Amren! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk Pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)
I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Acetic Acid 02:09, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Hehe. Yeah. :P You're welcome. Happy editing! Acetic Acid 02:33, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

Yes, I am ALttP, but now Vyers at the moment. Who are you? -- A Link to the Past (talk) 01:54, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
I see. Hi there. -- A Link to the Past (talk) 01:54, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sniper infobox
I fixed the infobox at the Sniper article. You were missing some of the fields (like ratings, designer, and engine [1]), so it got messed up. Thunderbrand 13:11, August 25, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Nonsense
Your message is nonsense. My messages are freedom of speech. If you have a problem with it, you can call me a vandal if you don't care about your reputation. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.94.88.236 (talk • contribs).

Due to the continous vandlism of User:Truth aspirant-- the article Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman has become a ‘business-propaganda-feature’ rather an ‘encyclopedic article.’ Just see history of the article [[Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman and Talk:Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman page--You are requested to take intrest in this serious editorial issue and make things straight in this global phenomena (Wikipedia). [edit] Bureaucratship
Hi, Amren. Thank you so much for your support and kind words on my bureaucratship nomination. Unfortunately, it didn't pass, but I intend to run again soon. If you'd like to be informed next time around, please let me know on my talk page. Thanks again! Andre (talk) 05:06, September 4, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mediæval units
Hello Amren,
I see you've replaced some of the content I've removed from Medieval weights and measures. Don't fear: I'm not vandalising the page (or at least not trying to). I'm attempting to remerge Ancient weights and measures with the mediaeval page to Historical weights and measures. This I am doing inline with what was done to the ancient page. A split by culture/country/region is what probably should have been done in the first place (see the talk pages). User:Jimp 6sep05
Yeah, you did the right thing by reverting: I should've noted what I was doing but thought when done it would be obvious (and it is) & well it's late late @ night here & I should be sleeping. Well, good to meet you Ameren. Jimp6sep05
[edit] ulayiti's RfA
Hi Amren, and thanks for your support of my RfA. I'm an administrator now, and I hope that I'll live up to the community's expectations as one. Your vote of confidence is much appreciated. - ulayiti (talk) 15:52, 8 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] "Better cats"
Why did you remove Category:adventure game category from The Last Express? It is quite clearly classified as an adventure game.--Deadworm222 19:42, September 9, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] A merge dispute over Cultural references in Pokémon and Pokémon (anime)
CoolKatt number 99999 and I have been butting heads over some article-quality disagreements, first in a VFD for Grudges in the Pokémon anime (which has since been deleted via VFD), then over CoolKatt adding links to User:CoolKatt number 99999/Grudges in the Pokemon anime to Pokémon (anime), and most lately over Cultural references in Pokémon. (Some more previous background is in Wikipedia:Village pump (policy)#Cross-namespace links and accusations of vandalism; note that CoolKatt backed down on adding that link after User:gadfium stepped in.)
CoolKatt and I clearly disagree over the quality of Cultural references in Pokémon, as you can see from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Cultural references in Pokémon. I'm afraid CoolKatt has gotten a little out of hand labelling people as possible sockpuppets (without any sort of evidence I can see), but that's not a big problem as far as I'm concerned, as I'm sure the closing admin will be able to determine who is and is not a sockpuppet.
This is all background to the issue at hand right now. CoolKatt has been merging an older version of Cultural references in Pokémon into Pokémon (anime), and I have undone this merge, as I feel that Pokémon (anime) is already a list-heavy, cruft-heavy article and that list contributes nothing to the article. CoolKatt reverted this list back into the article with the {{vprotected}} template attached. I deleted it again, CoolKatt reverted it back with increasingly more abusive edit summaries and made some threats on my user talk page, and mentioned your name.
I have no idea what to do here. I fear CoolKatt is unwilling to accept any expanation of my motivations (but not unwilling to hear reasonable comments from people who aren't me), so I'd appreciate your help, since CoolKatt apparently knows (and, I assume, trusts) you. - A Man In Black (Talk | Contribs) 00:14, 10 September 2005 (UTC)
- AMIB, maybe I've been too harsh on you, so let's try and settle this like gentlemen CoolKatt number 99999
[edit] Bmicomp's RfA
Well, my RfA has not quite completed yet, but either way, I'd like to thank you for your vote and your support, regardless of the outcome. -- BMIComp (talk, HOWS MY DRIVING) 18:22, 12 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alleged causes of Hurricane Katrina
I realize that there were strong feelings on both sides with respect to the outcome of the AfD for this article, now located at Alternative theories regarding Hurricane Katrina. I would like to assure those who expressed concerns about the content, tone, and potential for degradation of this article that I intend for it to continue to exist only as long as is necessary to draw the contributions of fringe theorists away from the more substantial Hurricane Katrina articles. Once interest in this topic dies down, I'll quietly trim and merge this information into the appropriate general-topic articles. In the interim, I will carefully watch this page to prevent it from being abused, and I will continue to work towards making this article NPOV, properly sourced, and useful to those seeking an accurate record of the hysterics that so often follows catastrophe. Cheers. -- BDAbramson talk 01:01, 14 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism in progress question.
I downloaded CryptoDerks vandal fighter and was learning how to use it when I clicked on Template African American which would pertain to me and discovered vandalism in the form of nude male photos. I was trying to find out how to report it and when I looked back I saw that you did. Quick work thank you. I would like to know how to do it.202.101.173.68 05:29, 18 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] GameFAQs
The contest ended Monday, Mario beating Crono (very fair!)[2]. Nowadays is happening a "Tournment of Champions", with Link x Cloud Strife(Link won), Sephiroth x Mario (don't know how Mario lost!) and today, Link x Sephiroth. igordebraga ≠ 16:46, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
[edit] My RFA
Thank you very much for your vote on my RFA, it is now the 8th most supported RFA ever, and it couldnt have happened without your vote. I look forward to serving wikipedia. Again, thanks. →Journalist >>talk<< 00:01, 1 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Template:WivesMuhammad
I noticed that you reverted the Template:WivesMuhammad with the edit summary "Rv PoV" recently, but I can't find any message from you at the talkpage. There is a lot of discussion going on there at the moment, and there is several editors discussing the issues there, in order to find the most appropiate title. Could you please join the discussion and explain your revert and PoV concerns? -- Karl Meier 23:36, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
Probably totally unnecessary but I have recently joined the welcoming committee and I realised that I didn't have a welcome message myself! After looking at the history, it turns out that you put one on my talk page but I deleted it for some reason!
Anyway, I'd just like to take the time to say thanks!--Dan (Talk)|@ 16:07, 1 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging for Image:Dragonquestscreen.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Dragonquestscreen.jpg. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as {{db-unksource}}.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

[edit] Fair use images removed
Hi Amren, I've taken the liberty of commenting out some images claimed under fair use on your user page. Wikipedia's fair use policy states that such images may not be used on user pages. Based on your contribution history, you appear to be inactive, which is why I've removed the images myself. If you are not inactive, I apologize. Pagrashtak 06:10, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image Tagging Image:Rabanastre.jpg
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Rabanastre.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 13:53, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
