Pak Kret (Thai: ปากเกร็ด) is a district (Amphoe) in the northeastern part of Nonthaburi province, central Thailand.

The district is located in the northeast of the province. It borders (from north clockwise) the districts Lat Lum Kaeo and Mueang Pathum Thani of Pathum Thani Province, Don Mueang and Lak Si of Bangkok, and Mueang Nonthaburi and Bang Bua Thong of Nonthaburi.

The district is crossed by the Chao Phraya River. A large ox bow of the river has been shortened by a canal dug in 1722 in Ayuthaya Era. The island Ko Kret, formed by Khlong Lat Kret and the river, is home of a Mon (also called Raman) community, famous for the pottery. Monam Lai Wichit, the most beautiful pottery product of the island, is also the symbol of the province Nonthaburi. The most notable icon of the island is the leaning chedi or Chedi Mutao, a pagoda in Wat Poramai Yigawat located at the north-eastern tip of the island.

Ko Kret (13°54′31″N, 100°28′43″E) is the most famous place in Pak Kret, and its most popular tourist target. On the island there are several temples (wat), such as Wat Poramai Yigawat, Wat Phailom, Wat Saotong Thong and Wat Chimphi, as well as the OTOP Village, which serves as a market for local products and souvenirs. Other attractions include the dessert shop (Ran Khun Aew), Kret Buddha Garden, and a small bar.

The island is only reachable by boat, usually from the Wat Sanam Nau Pier. There are also boat tours around the island.

[edit] Mueang Thong Thani

Mueang Thong Thani is a satellite city with high-rise condominiums developed by Bangkok Land in 1989, the company built Mueang Thong Thani Stadium in 1998 for the 13th Asian Games. The stadium was later renamed IMPACT Exhibition Center. It includes a 12,000 entertainment and sports arena, which is the primary large-scale concert venue for Bangkok, as well as a convention center for trade shows.
