Ampang, Selangor is a suburban area located in the state of Selangor after the partitioning of Ampang for the creation of the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. This part of Ampang is under the administration of the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ).
This place is very common for landslides, which occur almost every year. This is because many people build their houses on the hills located here. The Highland Towers collapse on 11 December, 1993 was one of the most bizzare accidents that happened here. Other major landslides that happened here are such as in Taman Hill View and the areas surrounding it. Ampang Jaya Municipal Council is taking a safe step by evacuating all people who live in flats and apartments to a safer place. This makes people homeless for a very long amount of time and many controversial issues have occurred because of this.
Zoo Negara is located near here.
