[edit] René Moawad "internationally recognised"?
Maybe. But his appointment was unconstitutional. Aoun was leader according to the constitution. There is no "debate" about it. Rm uk 09:15, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe. If you know the history of the time period (you probably know it better than I do), it wasn't exactly a clean clear cut situation. The Civil war was coming to an end, but it was not finished. It is a fact that the National Assembly appointed René president. As far as I know he was technically qualified to fill the post according to the Constitution. Anyone has a right to disagree with what they did (Obviously some people disagreed strongly enough that they killed him), but we can't rewrite history because we think it was wrong. [edit] 'Amine' or 'Amin'?
The first spelling is adopted here, but the second also appears to have some validity, perhaps in other languages. Could someone who understands the usage add a short comment? - Earthlyreason
