[edit] Death

On December 21, 1997, Amie was returning home with her grandmother and her Godchild (megan) from a Christmas family gathering in Alabama. As Amie passed a car, her Dodge Avenger car hydroplaned due to severe rain weather and struck a tree. Amie was killed on impact. Amie's grandmother and Godchild were injured in the crash and were hospitalized for some time, but both survived. The state police said neither alcohol nor speed was a factor in the accident and it was a miracle that anyone else survived the accident. State police also said that there was nothing Amie could have done to prevent the accident. Funeral services were held for Amie on Christmas Eve and burial was close to her home in Plaquemine, Louisiana.

Amie's posthumous album, "A Very Special Angel" was released March 6, 1998 by Nashville's Rival Records, but due to printing errors in the albums' artwork, the CD had to be repackaged and was re-released March 26, 1998. Amie had co-written some of the songs on the album herself.
