AmIRC

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

AmIRC is a MUI based IRC client for the Amiga.

AmIRC is the most definitive IRC client for Amiga. It requires MUI (Magic User Interface), a TCP/IP stack (Genesis, AmiTCP, Miami, MiamiDX) and AmigaOS 2.x or later.

AmIRC largely influenced the GUI-design of X-Chat, so much so that the X-Chat license actually acknowledges AmIRC as the main source of inspiration.

AmIRC supports ARexx allowing other applications to integrate with it.

[edit] Trivia

AmIRC used software keys to license it, if somebody was found to be using a pirate key. the software would retaliate by embarrassing that user in a channel by secretly sending "/me is a lame software pirate" over and over. The software would demo out after 30 minutes if no keys were found.
