Amherst Regional Middle School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amherst Regional Middle School, commonly abbreviated as ARMS, is the seventh- and eighth-grade school serving the Massachusetts communities of Amherst, Pelham, Leverett and Shutesbury. In January 2001, through the efforts of principal Mary Cavalier, the Center for Collaborative Education named ARMS the first demonstration school for their National Turning Points Center program. This facilitates an afterschool program called Savuka which allows students to stay after class and to participate in a number of teacher-led clubs. Since 2004, meals have been supplied by Chartwells, a major educational institution foodservice provider. Mary Cavalier retired in 2006 and was replaced by Fran Zipperstein and Mike Hayes as co-interim principals.
It is part of the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District.
Present enrollment is approximately 625 students.
