Talk:Americanism (general)

This is a new non-technical page. This is my first and only contribution to this page. Let the world make of it as they wish and change it to their heart's content. I tire of attempting to defend what the rest of world world considers indefensible. David91 06:34, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Pejorative?

Is this supposed to be pejorative or simply descriptive? Euphemism is the first place I've heard of the term. I believe "honor" is spelled (yes, spelled) differently is due to Webster's attempt to simplify English spelling. (See Noah Webster). I'm sure it's quite annoying for anyone to adjust to the language differences between English-speaking countries. Everyone wants to believe their language/dialect is the best and most perfect. Perhaps, this is the nature of the "dismay" of those who use terms like these. But enough of my musings... some with more sources or knowledge about it should address the nature of the term to clarify it, as I have no experience with it. --Macrowiz 17:18, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A true gentleman spells honor honor

What's this nonsense about spelling words the British way? They spell it their way, we spell it our way. It doesn't mean that they're gentlemen because they spell words with extra letters. I will take that part outta there. Maybe you should put that in the Americanism article. It's a true American word. (LonghornJohnny 00:08, 9 September 2006 (UTC))
