Amery Hill School
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amery Hill School is an 11-16 comprehensive secondary school set on a hill above the market town of Alton in Hampshire, United Kingdom.
A highly successful school, it was awarded Music College specialist school status in 2004 by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES). This has enabled the school to do much to develop the school's excellent reputation for music through outreach into the community and fund work within the primary sector. Music is only one of the successful subject areas, and children with the whole range of abilities and talents are welcome.
Whilst examination performance is very strong at both Key Stages 3 and 4, it is the ethos of the school which is remarked on mainly by visitors.
In recent years, much has been done to enhance the visual attraction of the pre-war premises through display and redecoration. School facilities are good and include interactive whiteboards and data projectors in almost all classrooms, and an artificial turf sports pitch.
The school enjoys close collaboration with nearby Alton College and Amery Hill students attend the College for some enrichment and curriculum courses.
